Vintage Photograph of Buddhist Monks in Japan

28.00

I love old group photographs and there might not be any better than the ones from Japan. They are some of my favorite items to scour over during buying trips to the markets of Kyoto and Tokyo.

This shot shows four men in their traditional outfits standing in front of a Buddhist Temple. I’d love to learn more about what is going on in this picture. What do the outfits signify? Are they preparing for a ceremony or holiday?

The key to figuring out who they are is perhaps written on the reverse. Any help in translating is greatly appreciated.

The glossy photo is in very good condition with no significant blemishes; however there is a lot of foxing on the card.

Photo measures 5.5” x 3.75” / Card measures 8.25” x 6.75”
