History of the United States Capitol; Vol. 1

100.00

This is a First-Edition copy of History of the United States Capitol Volume 1 from 1900. This first volume is written on the subject of the old Capitol and the work of Thornton, Latrobe, and Bulfinch. The second volume was printed in 1902 and is primarily about the additions to the building since 1850 and the work of Thomas U. Walter and Frederick Law Olmsted.

This book is amazingly well-illustrated with architectural photographs, plans, details, and portraits.  The book measures 15" x 12" x 2.5"

The illustrations are equally huge in size, with most of the 165 illustrations covering full 14.5" x 11.5" pages.

This is a fascinating and rare architectural book in fair condition. The edges of the pages are browning and the outer covers are somewhat soiled. Structurally, the book is sound.

Value for a complete set is $300-$350.
