This leather satchel originally belonged to Major Federic Gerrish Gassaway of the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment during WWI. Major Gassaway is now buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His son, also named Federic Gerrish Gassaway, was killed in WWII and is also buried at Arlington. 

The bag features a wide shoulder strap, two small interior pouches and two interior straps. The front flap is held closed by two thin straps and buckles. The bag has been cleaned but not conditioned. 

The bag is in excellent condition for its age with no tears or holes. The straps and buckles are also in great shape.
