Lunar Map 1:2,500,000 / Mare Nectaris - Mare Imbrium / Pictorial Relief Printing

These might be one of the best maps I've had the pleasure to own! All six future landing sites for the Apollo missions are shown on this early map.

This striking Topographic Lunar Map from the Army Map Service, Corps of Engineers was printed in 1962. They show great detail in the landscape and were developed in anticipation of lunar landings at the end of the 1960's. A technique was developed a few years before that used multiple cameras in multiple locations on earth to photograph the moon and determine relative changes in height. These maps were critical in plotting potential landing locations for the Apollo missions.

The back of the map has listings for every named feature on the moon.

There are two large spots toward the bottom but overall it is in pretty good shape with minimal wear and minor tears around the edges. The corners do not have any pin holes.

These map is incredibly scarce and equally beautiful.

Map measures 41” x 52”
