A.J. Nystrom produced this large slated map of Africa in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s based on the political borders shown. The map has a special coating on it and can be written on just like a chalkboard.

The map does have a couple of blemishes but none really detract from its presentation. There are traces of old chalk markings which actually have the nice effect of highlighting the rapid changes to Western Africa during the 1960’s and one are where the slated finish has rubbed off. The map comes mounted on its original wooden rods and has a cloth tie to keep the map secured when its rolled and doubles as an easy hanger.
